The Heart of Mars by Chuck Rosenthal

I remember telling you guys that I was reading this book that was meant for an opportunity from PPP. Well, here it is.

I read this book called The Heart of Mars by Chuck Rosenthal.

Genre: "Part fantasy, part fabulism, part detective"

This is the so-called synopsis. I suppose you really have to read it to grasp the idea of the book.

In 2540 there are horses on Mars! Earth, ravaged by global warming, is occupied by an alien species of amphibians—the Nution—who have established a utopian society employing only biological technology. They govern the solar system with a benign communism. A fish freighter carrying a load from the farms of Europa is hijacked and last seen heading toward Mars where some of the only holdouts of human culture still eke out a life. The detective, Marl, both human and Nution, is sent to investigate. He discovers the utopian dream of the Nution is not as it seems, and that the solar system is on the verge of revolution. - hollyridgepress.com

Interesting book. Slight humour. Marl, the lead character was writing about his journey to investigate the missing fish freight. Things about humans as well; how they fought over fish, books and stuff... Just like how a bunch of aunties discussing their opinions over other individuals.

It's not like the gossiping type, but more like a sophisticated-conversation-during-an-elegant-dinner-party kind of discussion.

Downside of the book. The whole story is rather confusing because of the bombastic words used, among all of it. I had to check the dictionary soooo many times... *shakes head*

But then, what a great way to learn new words!

Seriously. Many, many new words.

I still understood how the story was going though, despite the difficult words. Actually you could just disregard the difficult words because they're meant to be descriptive.

And because you're reading about aliens of some sort, it would probably help if you imagined them as humans rather than an evolved species. You'll get the hang of it as you progress. That is, IF you read the book.

Basically, the words and dialogues were very blur-inducing.

And he met this chick! I don't understand what they were doing in the beginning, but I think they were doing the naughty-naughty.

Interesting... Sex scenes written by men and women are truly different.

I suppose that this book would be suitable for those who read The Edge.

And it's Friday the 13th!
