When I see jobs that I'm curious about, I take down a position title, company name or a website URL and look it up later.
So the other day I came across these vacancies.
DATA ENTRY staff wanted using Internet. Part/ full time. Genuine apply at www.data-entrybiz.us
Yes, I know I'm bloody advertising for them. But at some point I'll be letting you guys know about the website so that my point goes through, anyway.
I'd charge them, really. Heck, if the advertisers sees this, please contact me.
DATA-ENTRY STAFF wanted. Work from Internet. Only genuine apply at www.raffles-recruitment.com
INTL MARKET research company seeking survey respondents urgently. Apply at www.survey-jobs.biz
All these sites require you to pay a one-time sign up fee, ranging from 33.88 USD to 45.99 USD.
No hidden or recurring fees.
They claim that you can earn around 300 USD to 600 USD a day, or something like that.
I'm so damn curious I want to try it out. One of the sites is having a promotion where you will pay about 25% of the usual sign up fee. It's kinda tempting.
But seriously, is it really safe?
That's my question. Pleeeease answer me and let me know what you think. I'm trying to gather opinions to decide whether to go ahead with my to-sign-up-or-not plan.
Bare in mind that some, or all of the sites may require you to pay the fee with a credit card. I'm not sure if they'll accept the credits you have in PayPal yet.
So take that into account when you state your opinion.
Let me know what you think.

My advice, don't fall for all these scams!
I'm sure their claim that you can earn up to USD600 makes you want to join. It has scam written all over it - ie by taking advantage of human greed. Furthermore, it requires money upfront so it's so clear that they want to make money out of this.
If you really want to work from home, you might as well pay me USD30 and I'll guide you personally. lol
LOL I'll never think of joining such a thing.
Are you stupid or something?
No really.
Are you?
You're not in dire need of $$ so stop looking.
You see a nice post from PPP, you take it. You don't get it, you say "Oh well... Better luck next time."
It's not like you can get $$ out from Paypal anytime soon, so don't fill it up so quick. Who knows, maybe tmr you'll get your account frozen or hacked into.
And take your email add away.
To all:
You know what's puzzling me anot??
If these companies are scams, how come they can advertise in the newspapers just like that?
OMG...why are you so naive? You think the newspaper got time to check all the companies advertised on their papers? As long as you have the money to pay the advertising fee, you can post almost any ads you want.
No wonder they said the only way a person could really learn is by experience. You will only believe it's a scam if you got cheated by the scammers. Just like how so many people got into MLM these days. Sigh..
*pat head * haih kesian teing.. * pats head again*

Don't angry, don't angry!
My curiosity irritates people most of the time. I ask a lot about things that I find puzzling and end up making the other person mad. Most notably, Hwey..
I understand the part about not having gatekeepers and all.. But... (Here goes..) If someone is going to sue the site, should the newspaper be liable because it did not, like, so-called 'make certain' the content of the ad it published?
Just to save yourselves from being irritated again and again, you can curse me and dismiss the question.
For example.
"71u.. Why this girl so #$^%6@5%^*!" *closes browser*
:D
that's the trend now ma Ms. Peggy said.
They're trying to get the SProvider to be more liable.
I don't think its a strong case anyway, if you're going to sue the newspaper for publishing a paid ad.
Not angry la...but just don't want another person to become a victim. But I think many people surely got cheated from this scam, since there are thousands of TheStar readers.
Andrew: I guess you're right. I had a whole lot of people searching the url on search engines coming into my page.
Hopefully they read the comments.
I am a singaporean. I read the classified under part-time section, there are few companiese like this. Despite of my financial problems, i keen to do part-time jobs to settle all my bills.
It is such a damn thing to get scammed by these companies. I had registered with three other companies like this raffles, but what i got was just nothing!! I was so angry! the websites are
www.homejobsg.com
www.typistrecruitment.com
www.sgsuccess.com
you guys must beware of these three sites. i paid money to them by paypal/clickbank, but i got nothing!! :(
I was about to sign up for this raffles-recruitment.com. but i am not not sure whether this site is a scam. so i searched for this site in google.com. luckily i have found out this blog.
whether this site is a scam or not, it is too early to define it if i do not try it out...
Ohhhh... okay..
My plan has been thrown out and incinerated.
You must have some serious grudge against raffles-recruitment.com and data-entrybiz.us from your tone. Are you their competitor???
Seems you are out to discredit them at all cost. Its so obvious cos i did register with them couple of weeks ago and i DID Earn
about US $3000 for 2 weeks of work from one of their links.
Did you actually try them out or just accusing them for some reason?? Well thats not really my concern but i guess i should voice out and let others know what u said has no ground at all!!
Tell me, what kind of job need you to pay money upfront? The answer is, SCAM JOBS!
For the benefit of those who reached here from search engine, take a look at the links below:

How to tell if a part-time job is a scam:
http://www.asiaparttime.com/blog/asiaparttime/how-to-tell-if-a-part-time-job-is-a-scam/
Please everyone, use your common sense and don't let greed take over you. If everyone can really make $3000 in 2 weeks simply by doing data entry, there'll be no poor people in this country anymore la.
i have no comments toward this. However, i think there're real internet jobs. If not, why do they(these scammers) make use of this(internet jobs) to con people?
This(internet jobs) must have some good reputation otherwise how to convince people that they are true?
also, from what i have studies in the university that outsourcing jobs are really helpful to the organization. this internet job is also a form of outsourcing. that's why i am still convinced that these internet jobs are real. however, just that too many con-men out there doing this illegally.
Joel: Wassup, dude. Who you talking about? Me ar?
Daniel: I also believe that there are safe online jobs available. But no one can really tell if any one website is legitimate.
Andrew: Well, from what the sites mentioned state, they charge you a one-time to cover their research and resources. I'm not sure if they're for real, but their rationale seems pretty sound to me.
Dunno la.. Still, we won't know if it's true anyway.
Andrew:
come on man, if u are sick and visit a doctor, u HAVE TO PAY for treatment Right?
2] if u wants convenience and buys a car u still HAVE TO PAY road tax;insurance;GST; ERP Right?
3] if u wanna have sex with a prostitute h HAVE TO PAY RIGHT? Well maybe u are not interested in girls...haha...u still have to pay for gay service...Right?
If u are not willing to pay for bus or mrt; take a walk then.
No one can force u to paid or do something when u are unwilling..
Right?
No one can get rich just working 9 to 5 jobs. All successfull people takes risk and definitely not a 9 to 5 jobs.
If you think its a scam; then just ignore it. I personally think a 9 to 5 pm suits u best.
I paid thousands of dollars to attend courses because i want to lead a better life. There are thousands of people in S'pore doing that all the time.
So if u think its a scam; then ignore it and carry on living inside your comfort zone.
U mentality is like a toad living inside a well... pathetic..
Ey, ey, ey... Joel, don't get so touchy ar, I tell you.
Have respect for others and yourself la.
Haha...this is really funny. I asked: what kind of job need you to pay money upfront?
And then someone talked about the need to pay money for doctors, prostitutes etc. That doesn't answer the question, dude.
And I wonder why he get all personal about this if he is really making $3000 in 2 weeks. He should be enjoying his rich lifestyle. Unless... that $3000 comes from...*ehem* you make your own judgement.
I think this is gonna be my last comment here. But what I want to emphasise is that 9-5 job is probably the least risky way of earning money. Of course, you could be an instant millionaire if you are smart enough to become a pioneer/monopoly of something big (hint: milliondollarhomepage.com, google.com, microsoft.com, you name it). Or, if you aren't that great, you can still take the investment route (calculated risk) such as stock market, forex, mutual funds etc. If you really can't find a job, not smart enough to start something big and no money to invest...that's still not the end: there are so many different ways to make money online for free without paying money upfront (payperpost, adsense, chitika, textlinkads, etc).
But if you still want to pay money upfront for a "data-entry" job despite all the advice, then don't blame anyone when you lose your money. Always remember: greed kills. Take care everyone!
Many direct selling would require people to pay up front first. Some may be a scam and some are for real.
Same goes with this internet thingy, just search around the internet about their trustworthiness before jumping into it. Again, same old thing when you are buying something from the internet, you do your research about the company.
i agree with mrbherng said.
however, i do not agree with andrew.
these ways to make money online(payperpost, adsense, etc) need to know how to set up a website, from step 1 to the last step, which not many people know of. so, data-entry online is of course the one which requires the less effort and knowledge to earn money.
and, there are risks anywhere... while you are walking on the road, the risk is that you may be hit by an automobil. if you cant take the risk, then you will never be successful. * recall of what i studied "risk management" in my uni life*
Ahem. Deviating a little from the topic here.
*coughs* Bare =)
If YOU have to pay THEM, to work FOR them. Then you know, something must be whack.
You want to work for them, they should be paying you. Not you pay them.
If they are so real, then why can't the so called "fees" couldn't be deducted from all the fabulous jobs you're about to get.
If the fees is RM 200, then all they have to do is wait one day. After all, they did advertise you could make RM 700 a day.
