Vanilla Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

SucCCCEssSSSsss!!! *DroooOOOoOl droooOOoOl*

Made them yesterday. Was super doubtful about how I was doing, but the frosting saved the day. =)

I used the recipe for the cupcakes from Big Boys Recipe and the frosting from Cupcakeblog.com. Made a few adjustments and substitutions, like less sugar, using vanilla extract instead of vanilla pods.

I used 2 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract for the cupcake batter. But I think it could do with maybe 3 1/2 or 4. Because the taste wasn't very strong. Or maybe it's the chocolate that affected my tastebuds.

Testing.

Before.

After. So pretty! =) Please disregard the person in green.

Perhaps you're wondering why I used bowls instead of muffin trays. Well, the paper cups I bought were a tad too big to fit the tray, so I used bowls. They're pretty good, too. Except that your muffins would be wider at the top. And will not fill the whole cup. Or maybe it was the amount of batter I put? I don't know.

Anyway, I've still got frosting and sponge cake mix left! =D Next project.
