Wonka Fruit Pastilles

Second candy review! WOoo.

I bought myself Nestle's Wonka Fruit Pastilles today. Priced at AUD1.05 in The CurtinUni Main Cafe. Full Guild price. It should be below AUD2 for non-guild members.

The packaging kinda stood out since it's purple (which was placed in a blue crowd). Also the rainbow that was on the packaging. I thought pastilles would be a change from the kind of sweets I normally consume.

See the colourful rainbow? [Source]

Wrapping was great. =) It's more or less similar to Lifesaver, with the sugar-coated candy wrapped in aluminium foil, but with the exception that Wonka has an extra paper lining between the pastille and foil. So easy to handle. No poop tinged with a hint of (that was redundant) foil anymore. YEeEeeS.

Similar in size with a mentos, it isn't too soft when pressed between your finger tips. But it's really...really.. REALLY sticky when chewed. Sticky as in, it sticks to your teeth, like you're chewing Fruitella (Is it still in Malaysia?), or Sugus. But stickier.

I was discussing with Hwey & Vel whether we should use the term 'sticky'. But all it did was lead us back to the same word. I really couldn't think of any other word to describe it. Aside from that, it has a very 'rich' texture when chewing. Like chewing a creamy, sticky chewy candy.

A burst of fruit flavour spreads in your mouth. *pause* Not to mention the colouring. Yes, I've just 'dyed' my tongue a dark shade of purple. But it seems to only stay awhile, or at least until you pop another pastille in your mouth.

Lemon and lime isn't too sour that you'd scrunch your face; Orange has a soft taste, but quite artificial. It also has this syrupy feel when the flavour mixes with saliva; Strawberry *barf*, which tastes pretty much like antibiotics, had only a small hint of flavour. Blackcurrant was by far the strongest in flavour for me. But it was too sweet for my liking.

OmG. I just ate the whole thing. I need to go pick pastille out of my teeth now.
