Friend collectors and the little chicks.

My 13/14-year old cousin has about eight 'friends' from South Africa, Sweden, Philippines, and Australia and elsewhere, on Facebook. These eight are profiles which I've identified as adults and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know any of them. Five out of those eight have more than 1000 'friends'. Pretty obvious that they are collecting friends or they just can't be bothered to care who they 'befriend' online.

If I'm wrong, then... Wow. Her social circle is super wide than mine.

I think a lot of people, especially those who grew up with broadband instead of the 56k modem, don't know too much about privacy issues. It's great that you tweaked the privacy settings to restrict your profile and all, but wouldn't it defeat the purpose if you added anyone as a 'friend'?

At least the other one isn't so bad. Spotted only one or two 'collectors'.

I know it's none of my business la, but I can't help it. It's primal and very academically driven. Taking care of the young and having observations and all..

I thought I struck gold when I found out that the uni library has a collection of fiction. So I went to the library today to take a look. Who knew right... A bunch of old, old literature with only a small collection of contemporary fiction. The shelves were mainly populated by male authors, too. I prefer female authors. =) Because I'm mainly a 'chick flick' type of reader.

Need to send the library an email.

UPDATE: I take what I said about 'a small collection of contemporary fiction' back. I found them, but still can't find my familiar authors and any similar chick lit.
