What is it that compels you to add them as a Friend?

Let's talk Facebook. Because I've been observing some activity there and I had questions.

A class photo surfaced on the Interweb recently. And there was a flurry of activity in the comments section. Subsequently, users add old classmates as Friends on Facebook.

GAh. That last sentence is what I'd write when I'm writing an essay.

But after that.. what? What do they do when a request has been approved? Will they be writing on walls to catch up? Or leave it at that? Or just use the comments section to talk?

Okay. Let's say X and Y weren't that close in school to begin with. A decade later, with no communication in between, they add each other on FB as Friends and left it at that.

Why do we add them as Friends in the beginning? Is it because we think that, "Oh, I know this person. I'll add him."? Wouldn't that mean the whole definition of friends is different from that in reality? Ohh. OHHHHHHHHH.

I think I answered my own question.

-----------

Huh. I'm really into studying the Net more than I thought I would.

OmG!! Am I going to be an academic!!???

*guffaw*

Maybe it's the case for you but it isn't for all. I read an article while doing my research, about a girl who hooked up with her classmate from 10 years ago. You add each other, and then you do the catch-up. If things go well, you say "let's get a drink sometime soon".

Ya. It really depends on individuals lah. See you wanna continue hook up with that person after adding him/her. If you realised you both have something in common to talk or do, it's not a bad idea though.
